Indigent Care
The following questions are often asked regarding the Lamar Medical Center and indigent care.
What payment
options are available?
The LMC accepts
most insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. We do not accept credit cards at
this time.
Does the LMC
provide free healthcare?
We're sorry, but
the services at the Lamar Medical Center are not free. Also the
Center does not give away free medicine. However, the Center does help
patients find resources to assist with the cost of their healthcare and
finds programs to help reduce the costs of their medicines.
Does the LMC
provide indigent care?
Yes, there is an
Indigent Program available for people without health insurance, but
they must qualify in order to participate. If the patient qualifies for the
Indigent Program, they will be required to at least pay a copay. Patients
can apply for the Indigent Program by completing an application and
interview. Listed below is the information that will be required in order to
determine eligibility for the Indigent Program.
- Valid Georgia
driver's license, showing a Georgia address, issued
at least 6 months ago
- Rent receipt or a lease agreement
- Current utility bills and utility bill at least 6 months old
- Check stubs showing address are acceptable
- Pay stubs for the last 3 months for income verification
- Unemployment check stubs, social security award letter,
retirement income, child support
- Student loans and payment of odd jobs
- Self-employment income
- Checking and saving account information
The indigent
application process is 30-60 days, provided all paperwork is completed.
